About us
A free, friendly guide to America's museums, big and small.
We built Museum Directory because finding a great museum should be as easy as finding a great place to eat. Whether you're planning a trip, looking for something to do this weekend or wondering what's hiding in your own town, we want you to find it in a few seconds.
The directory covers 18,211 museums across all 50 states and Washington, D.C. That includes the famous names everyone knows, and also the small history rooms, science centers, children's museums, historic houses and park visitor centers that are easy to miss. Each museum gets its own page with the essentials: where it is, when it's open and what it costs when we know, what's inside, and what other visitors thought.
Keeping it accurate
Our information comes from trusted public sources, and we check museums' own websites for things like opening hours and free admission. Still, museums change their hours, prices and exhibits all the time, so please check the official website before you go.
Reviews
Anyone who has visited a museum can review it on Museum Directory, no account needed, and you can sign with your name or stay anonymous. We read every review before it appears and leave out spam, insults and reviews a museum writes about itself, so what you read stays fair.
